GTA NewsChinatown Wars Coming to the PSP

6.22.09 @ 2:10 PM by G-WizZ in Chinatown Wars
In a press release today, Rockstar Games announced that Chinatown Wars will be coming to the Sony PSP in America and Europe this fall.

"We're proud to extend this truly unique handheld Grand Theft Auto experience to PSP and offer a downloadable version of Chinatown Wars for PSP," said Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games. "Rockstar Leeds has shown incredible talent in creating games that raise the bar in terms of depth and innovation on portables, and with Chinatown Wars we have a rich, fast-paced, and incredibly addictive entry into the series."

"Rockstar's work with the GTA series has been an enormous part of the success of PlayStation platforms," said Jack Tretton, President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America. "We're excited to welcome the critically acclaimed Chinatown Wars to the outstanding line-up of great games headed to the PSP platform this fall."

GTA NewsRockstar Games Announces Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony

5.26.09 @ 4:42 PM by Reverie in GTAIV
Ballad of Gay TonyRockstar has announced the second downloadable add-on for Grand Theft Auto IV, this one subtitled The Ballad of Gay Tony. Like the last episode, The Ballad of Gay Tony will be exclusive to Xbox 360 and will have a price of 1600 Microsoft points or $19.99.

The Ballad of Gay Tony follows Luis Lopez, the assistant to the nightclub manager Tony "Gay Tony" Prince. In it, players will, "struggle with the competing loyalties of family and friends, and with the uncertainty about who is real and who is fake in a world in which everyone has a price."

Sam Houser, Founder of Rockstar Games offered this statement:

Liberty City is the most vibrant game world we've created yet. The episodic structure has allowed us to interweave stories, gameplay and atmosphere in a whole new way," "The team at Rockstar North have yet again surpassed themselves, and made something that is both epic and very innovative. This episode's focus on high-end night life contrasts with the biker gangs portrayed in The Lost and Damned, whilst giving us a lot of new gameplay possibilities.

Rockstar has also announced Grand Theft Auto IV: Episodes from Liberty City, a disc-based release that will include both The Lost and the Damned and The Ballad of Gay Tony. This disc will hit retail this fall, exclusively for Xbox 360. It will have a price of $39.99 and will not require a copy of GTA IV to run.

And no, we're not making this up.

Also new are various screenshots that you may have seen in previous news coverage, as well as some high-res wallpapers and a screensaver for both PC and Mac. I've recently added a Chinatown Wars section to GTA Warehouse in anticipation of the official site launch, so expect that to be updated soon as well. View the trailer below. GTA NewsFansite Event Part Two

2.19.09 @ 10:19 PM by G-WizZ in General News
Hopefully you've all read about my recent trip to New York to check out The Lost and Damned courtesy of Rockstar. Since the trip, myself and the other webmasters were unable to report on the happenings of February 11, until now.

Our second visit to New York concluded with a visit inside Rockstar's fifth floor offices...After being shown a demo of some of the new features in Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars, we were allowed to play a 4-mission build of the game for ourselves...You can even use the DS's WiFi to upload your stats onto the Social Club, and even trade money, weapons, and drugs with other players.

Our time actually playing Chinatown Wars was slightly limited...but I will say that this brief experience with Chinatown Wars - a game I initially had no intentions of buying or even covering - has made me purchase a Nintendo DS and eagerly await March 17.

This is a shortened 'homepage' version. You can read everything from start to finish on our Fansite Event page. Thanks again to Rockstar for everything they've done for us, and if you're still doubting whether or not Chinatown Wars is worth getting, just get it. Srsly.

GTA NewsThe Lost and Damned Fansite Event Details

2.13.09 @ 3:42 PM by G-WizZ in General News
If you recall from a few news posts ago, myself and 7 other GTA webmasters were recently in New York City checking out GTAIV: The Lost and Damned, on an all-expenses-paid trip courtesy of Rockstar Games. We held off releasing the details of our trip until after getting the latest Lost and Damned information posted up, and since that has had 24 hours to sink in, on we go to more important stuff.

Below is just a tiny preview, so be sure to read the full account of our trip on our GTAIV Premier Fansite Event page, which still has the details from last April's trip as well.

...After checking into the hotel and gathering with Adam, Casey, Kyle, Jevon, Blair, Chris, and Simon, we all got into a huge van which took us to Don Hill's, a bar on Greenwich Street which was closed for our private event for three days. The setup was...in an atmosphere that fit in with the theme of The Lost and Damned...I noticed the missions are much more varied than the missions in Niko's story...We played the new multiplayer modes for the next three hours. Some are similar to the current modes but with a biker twist, and some are completely new...

An exponentially huge thanks to Rockstar for being so generous as always and allowing us to come back and visit again.
