If Rockstar stays true to form when it comes to GTA release dates, I'm gonna say October 25th, 2012.

I look at it this way - the first gta4 trailer came out march 29, 2007 and the original release date was october 16 of the same year. that's 6.5 months difference (I'm not counting the delay) so compared to the gta5 trailer (november 2, 2011) 6.5 months would be may 15th, 2012, which is max payne's release date.
late october/early november gives them six additional months (compared to gta4's trailer->original release window) on the game. however, i could see gta5 being delayed to 2013 for one of two reasons. one, unforeseen tech problems such with gta4. or two: take2's fiscal years end on march 31 every year. pushing gta5 back to april would allow the sales figures of max payne 3 in this fiscal year to go unobstructed and the only thing R* would have to deal with is a shitload of fans bitching about the delay

i can see another reason why we might possibly not see it till next year, We all know R* like to break the boundaries when it comes to games, i mean honestly do u think LA NOIR was an actual game or just R* saying "HEY LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO" it really wouldnt supprise me that if the so called ""720"" is anounced this year, which in XBOX terms normally when they officaly announce a new console its out roughtly 6 months after.........
im thinking R* may wait for the next Gen to relase it and my money is on that it has the Facial recog. like LA Noir did.....

if GTA5 was going to be on the next Xbox, R* would need a dev kit for that Xbox, and I'm sure Microsoft doesn't just hand out prototypes especially before the console is announced. That's why launch titles are always games by Microsoft Studios. Also, based on the detail of the trailer, R* have done a significant amount of development on the game so far. I also doubt R* would only put out one gta for the current gen when they put out 3 for the last gen AND two ports

Depending on how far along said prototype is and the developer in question Microsoft will send them out but Rockstar and their employees will be under a very very very heavy NDA and will likely be unable to mention anything about it if they do. It's rumoured that a number of developers do have access to new hardware on both the Sony/Microsoft front and of course developers had access to the PSVita well before it's release, same story with the Nintendo Wii-U.
It should probably be noted that a lot of developers do actually work closely with the console manufacturers in terms of developing the consoles too in order to advise where improvements can be made. Epic in particular had a close relationship with Microsoft in developing the Xbox 360 and helped tweak a few of the finer points of the system and it's likely they will be in talks for the next generation.
As you said though the next generation hasn't been announced officially yet so it's very doubtful Rockstar are working on GTAV for it seeing as they've already shown off a trailer. They wouldn't announce a game for a platform that hasn't been confirmed to exist yet.

It was an actual game that wasn't made by Rockstar, it was made by Team Bondi using tech they helped develop. It was helped to completion by Rockstar and published by them. Not only was it an actual game though but it was a damn good one too.

I wonder, do Rockstar usually release two games a year? I know their usual dates are either May or November, because if they do then it seems even more logical to expect GTAV in October/November time.

Hasn't there been some rather heavy rumors that Ubisoft & EA has the Dev kit for the ""720"" ?
so if Ubisoft & EA are rumored to have it then its quite possible that other companies do as well?

I'm gonna assume we'll hear something within 3 weeks. Back in March, Rockstar said that they would talk more about GTAV 'in a few months.' E3 is June 5-7, and while R* doesn't have a booth (according to E3's site), Take-Two does.
My guess is a second trailer with a release window (eg fall 2012, spring 2013, etc). They'll probably tweet something simple along the lines of "Second Trailer June 5 #GTAV" (or whatever date they pick, and maybe even simpler) about a week beforehand.
It also wouldn't surprise me if nothing that anybody assumes turns out to be true. I know they have a team of people who check the fansites (to keep them all "in check") so I wouldn't put it past them to make a list of everything that people predict, and then go ahead and do something that nobody mentioned.
It's a bit disgusting though some of the comments they've received on all their Max Payne news items, they had to delete a good percentage of it, but some of what I read earlier today was "OK NOW MAX PAYNE IS OUT YOU CAN TALK ABOUT GTA5 NOW" and "NOBODY BUY MAX PAYNE UNTIL MORE GTA5 INFO" are these people retarded? Yes, yes they are.

True, but given Take-Two's financial report I'd say it will be before the end of March, so I am going to change my guess to March 15th
